I am a full time professional DJ in the clubs as well as weddings and private events. I bought these speakers after hearing my friend use them at an outdoor block party and was blown away at how powerful the subs were and how clear the tops were. He played a variety of music through them and everything sounded so good. After I received my pair and did a couple of gigs with them, I sold my EV-50s because these blow them away!! If you're on a budget or not on a budget, pound for pound, these are the best gigging speakers you can buy, hands down! Amazing sound!!
1st I will start with the packaging. It was very well packaged. And there was no smell. The individual bags for the poles are super appreciated. Now for setup. The setup was super easy there was a slight hiss but I feel that is because I plugged it straight into my surge protector. I will give another update when I plug into my power conditioner. I feel that will make a difference with the hiss. Now as for the sound. I think the sound is amazing. Clear crisp clean. Highs are high mids are mids and lows are lows. If you are a dj you know with every song means adjustments. So if need be adjust. Overall for the price I feel we got a Super deal. Love this product can't wait to start gigging with it..
This is a very good column speaker bass hits hard.
I've been very impressed with the EXOTON S-1503 speaker system. The sound quality is clear, powerful, and well-balanced, making it an excellent choice for DJs, live events, parties, weddings, and other gatherings. The 15-inch powered subwoofer delivers deep, punchy bass, while the column array provides crisp highs and clear vocals that carry well throughout the room. One of the standout features is its portability. The system is easy to transport, quick to set up, and comes with a sleek, professional design. Despite its compact footprint, it produces impressive volume and coverage, making it suitable for both small and medium-sized venues.
We used four EXOTON S-1503 column speaker systems at a large outdoor field event, and they exceeded our expectations. Despite being set up in direct sunlight for approximately six hours, all four units performed flawlessly without any overheating, shutdowns, or noticeable loss in sound quality.
The sound output was incredibly powerful. Even in an open outdoor environment where sound can easily dissipate, the S-1503 speakers delivered strong coverage, clear vocals, and impressive bass response. Attendees could hear announcements and music clearly across a large area without distortion, even at higher volume levels.
What impressed us most was the system's reliability. Outdoor events can be demanding on audio equipment due to heat and continuous operation, but the S-1503s handled the conditions without any issues. The setup remained consistent throughout the entire event, proving that these speakers are more than capable of supporting long-duration performances and large gatherings.
Overall, the EXOTON S-1503 offers excellent performance, strong bass response, clear audio projection, and great value for the price. If you're looking for a portable column PA system that delivers professional-quality sound without the complexity of a larger setup, the S-1503 is a solid choice.
Pros: Let’s start with the positive. The price for these S-1503s is just unbelievable compared to the competition. The sound is clear, loud, and that punchy bass hits you in the sweet spot. On the exterior, there is no lacking in quality. They feel durable and appear well-made. I like the fact the paint finish is like a truck bed liner, because I can easily touch up any areas that get damaged and scuffed up. The first time I heard music coming out of the speakers, I was like, “holy sh#t!” I turned up the volume more and was even more impressed when that bass started to kick. As a DJ and sound technician, I’ve worked with so many different high-end brands, and these Exotons are definitely outshining the competition.
Cons: On one of the columns, I keep getting a low ringing sound every time I turn the unit on. I’m not getting the same low ringing tone from the other speaker, and that hissing noise that a lot of people are complaining about is not an issue. I own a pair of EV powered speakers, and if I stand close enough with my ears next to them, I hear the same sound.
Side note: The low ringing noise from one of the units is only noticeable when there is no sound coming from the speakers. When music is playing, the noise goes away. I reached out to the Exoton team regarding the issue, and they agreed to send a replacement amplifier board, which is fine by me.
Overall: I’m very pleased with the Exoton S-1503s—so much so I’m considering getting the S-1203s to use for smaller gigs. Thank you, Exoton, for looking out for the DJs who don’t feel it's necessary to spend $6k for great-sounding column array speakers.
